How We Got a New Website Showing Up in Google & AI Search Within Weeks
Can a brand-new website start appearing in Google and AI search results just weeks after launch?
Well, we recently had the chance to test exactly that.
At Nice Digital Studio, we designed and developed a new website for AGMEX, a green mobility and energy exhibition in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
And just a few weeks after launching, we started seeing some really encouraging results.
AGMEX was already appearing in Google search results and being mentioned in Google's AI Overview.
Was it luck? Maybe a little. But there was also a lot of work behind the scenes that most people never see.
Here's what we did.
First, a Little About the Project
AGMEX is an international exhibition bringing together companies, investors and industry leaders working in electric vehicles, renewable energy, battery storage and green technologies.
The goal was to create a professional website that would help attract exhibitors, visitors, speakers and partners from around the world.
We built the entire website using Wix Studio, with a modern design, dedicated event pages, registration forms and clear ways for people to get involved.
But we didn't want to create another website that simply looks impressive.
We wanted it to be found.

The Most Important Work Happened Before Launch
When people see a finished website, they usually notice the design first.
The colours, animations, images and layouts.
And of course, all of that matters.
But there's another side of web development that isn't nearly as exciting to look at, yet can make a huge difference to how a website performs.
Before launching AGMEX, we spent weeks working on its SEO, content and website structure.
We looked at what potential visitors and exhibitors might search for, how to organise the pages and how to explain the event clearly.
We also considered how AI-powered search engines would interpret the content.
For example, someone might ask:
What are the upcoming green energy exhibitions in Ethiopia?
Where can I meet electric vehicle suppliers in Africa?
How can I book an exhibition stand at AGMEX?
We wanted the website to provide clear answers to questions like these.
So instead of treating SEO as something to add after launch, we made it part of the design and development process.
Then Something Interesting Happened
A few weeks after the website went live, we searched Google for:
"green mobility energy exhibition Ethiopia"
And AGMEX appeared as the first organic result in our search.
Even better, Google included the exhibition in its AI Overview, with a link to the website.
We also tested AI search queries about the exhibition and found that AI tools could identify AGMEX, explain what it was about and provide information about participating.
For a new website, that's a pretty exciting start.
Now, does this mean we've cracked the Google algorithm or found some secret trick for AI search?
Of course not.
Search results change, AI responses aren't always consistent, and one successful query doesn't mean a website will rank for everything.
But it's a good early signal that Google is discovering the website and understanding what the business offers.
And that's exactly what we wanted to see.

So, What Did We Actually Do Differently?
Nothing magical.
We just approached the website as more than a design project.
We started with the audience. Instead of only thinking about what AGMEX wanted to say, we considered what potential visitors, exhibitors and partners would actually be looking for.
We built a clear website structure. Every important page had a purpose, relevant headings, useful content and internal links connecting related information.
We worked on technical SEO from the beginning. Page titles, descriptions, image alt text, mobile layouts and search-friendly URLs were all part of the development process.
We made the content easy to understand. Not just for visitors, but also for search engines and AI systems trying to identify what AGMEX does.
And finally, we focused on conversions. Because getting discovered is only half the job.
People also need a simple way to register, enquire or book an exhibition space.
None of these things guarantees rankings or AI mentions on its own.
But together, they give a new website a much stronger foundation.
Why AI Search Matters for Your Business
Think about the last time you needed to find a company, compare services or research something unfamiliar.
Maybe you searched Google.
Or maybe you opened ChatGPT and asked a question.
That's exactly why businesses need to start thinking beyond traditional search results.
Your potential customers might discover your business through a Google listing, an AI-generated answer or a recommendation from an AI assistant.
And if your website doesn't clearly explain what you offer, who you help and why you're relevant, those systems may struggle to surface it.
This is where SEO and Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO) come together.
Traditional SEO helps improve how your website is discovered through search engines.
GEO focuses on making your business information easier for AI-powered systems to find, interpret and potentially reference.
The two aren't completely separate strategies. Good content, a clear website structure and technical accessibility support both.

A Website Launch Is Just the Beginning
We're still at the beginning of AGMEX's SEO journey.
The next step is to build on these early results with useful industry content covering Ethiopia's green energy market, electric mobility, investment opportunities and international business partnerships.
We'll continue monitoring rankings, search visibility and website enquiries to understand what is actually bringing value.
Because appearing in AI search is exciting.
But what matters even more is whether that visibility eventually turns into real business opportunities.
Your Website Should Do More Than Look Good
This project reminded us why we approach web design and SEO together.
A great-looking website is important. But a website that helps people discover your business, understand what you offer and take action?
That's where the real value is.
At Nice Digital Studio, we build websites with that bigger picture in mind, combining Wix Studio design and development with SEO, AI search optimisation and conversion-focused user experiences.
